In a joint press conference with Texas Governor Greg Abbott on the US-Mexico border, former President Donald Trump suggested that the border crisis could have been avoided if Biden had simply “done nothing.”

“All Biden had to do was go to the beach,” he said. “If I hadn’t done anything, we would have had the strongest border we’ve ever had.”

After Vice President Kamala Harris did not show up at the border site for weeks, despite being appointed to handle the immigration crisis, Abbott invited Trump to accompany him on a tour of the border to witness the deterioration of the situation there. , punctuated by overcrowded detention facilities. , overwhelmed border patrol staff and high rates of immigrant apprehensions. Harris finally made a trip last week to El Paso, Texas, a city technically close to the border but many miles away from where the real fiasco is unfolding.

In his address to reporters and some supporters, Trump made reference to the worsening problem of human trafficking along the border, stating that most of the victims have been women. He also lamented the unfinished border wall that “would have been completed” in no time, sealed and painted, had he been elected again.

Abbott applauded members of the National Guard who deployed from Texas to help with the growing border crisis, stating that Texas and other states are making up for a shortage of border security officers caused by the Biden administration. The Texas Department of Health and Safety has arrested 1,000 criminals who have crossed the border, some drug traffickers, confirmed the governor.

Abbott again alleged that the Biden administration’s policies and negligence around the border are responsible for the massive influx of illegal narcotics, including huge amounts of fentanyl, a highly additive drug, to the mainland of Texas.

“The Biden administration has done nothing,” Abbott said, to prevent fentanyl from crossing the border into Texas communities.

To resume construction of Trump’s border wall, Abbott shared his plans to continue building the wall within Texas “just as Trump did, as President Biden should be doing.”
