Mary Trump, Donald Trump’s estranged niece, said the former president should not count on the full loyalty of some of those closest to him.
Specifically, three of his adult children: Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka.
“Her relationship with them, and her relationship with him, is completely transactional and conditional,” she told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Thursday. “They are not going to risk anything for him, just as he would not risk anything for them.”
Mary Trump spoke just hours after the criminal indictment against the Trump Organization and former CFO Allen Weisselberg was announced on charges including conspiracy, grand theft, criminal tax fraud and falsification of business records.
They have pleaded not guilty and Weisselberg has reportedly remained loyal to Trump and does not cooperate against him with investigators.
Maddow noted that the indictment says other executives may have benefited from the same scheme, meaning the three Trump brothers could be the next to face legal danger.
And Mary Trump said they could handle things differently than Weisselberg.
“I think [Donald Trump] I would be surprised to know that I don’t think my cousins have that kind of loyalty to him, ”he said.
