Where to find and how to use
If you want the best party possible, you should make good use of Exhilarating Monster Hunter Stories 2.
These require bottle caps and a bit of farming to obtain, but they are absolutely essential for success in the Rite of Channeling.
What are stimulants in Monster Hunter Stories 2?
Stimulants unlock closed spaces in your Monsties’ genetic network. Some locked slots open automatically as Monstie levels up, but those without unlock conditions require a stimulant.
Stimulants come in several varieties depending on the species of monster.
While the game divides the monsters into multiple categories, for example Burning Flying Wyvern, the stimulants work more broadly.
Royal Ludroth can be a “drenched” Leviathan, but you can use only one Leviathan stimulant on it, it does not need drenched.
Where to get stimulants from Monster Hunter Stories 2
You will find stimulants at Melynx Inc. stores located in all major settlements except Felyne Shelter.
Melynx is usually in a less congested place, but you will recognize the Felyne instantly. They always carry a backpack with an umbrella and a green turtleneck.
As with everything Melynx sells, the stimulants in Monster Hunter Stories 2 cost Bottle Caps.
We’ve already outlined the process for finding bottle caps, but we plan to visit many Everdens if you want to experiment a bit with the Monstie genes.
Fortunately, the costs of the stimulants are low and the Everdens are generous with the amount you get in each race.
How to use stimulants in Monster Hunter Stories 2
You can buy stimulants in advance, as soon as Melynx opens for the first time.
However, they remain unusable until you unlock the Rite of Channeling later in the second chapter. Stimulants are only available to use in the Channeling Rite menu when you start the Rite in a stable. There is no option to use them in the regular menu or in the Monstie admin menu.
Using stimulants on some of the rarest monsters in the game is key to turning them into powerhouses, but it will be easier for you if their genetic slots are already open. Look for rare eggs to give yourself a better chance of having good genes.
Once you’ve powered up your Monsties, you can take them into battle, where you’ll need our Monster Hunter Stories 2 Monster Attack Type and Weaknesses guide.
