Have you played … Monster Hunter: World?

I fell a bit out of Monster Hunter: World. I’m not really sure why, I think it’s just because other games came out and I got carried away by them. But now I want to go back, but not really for hunting or exploration or monsters. No, for me it’s about the hammer.

Now the hammer in Monster Hunter: World is a bulbous sphere on a stick. They are like huge Chupa Chups built expressly for monsters. The size of these things makes them slow and difficult to handle, but that’s what I like about them. You have this agonizing liquidation, then after what seems like an age, it unleashes a devastating BONK. Hit your hammer on the skull of a monster and you will instantly throw it to the ground, such is its power.

And you also get this slight delay when you smash a monster with a hammer, or any weapon, for that matter, in Monster Hunter: World. This split second in which you get a chance to savor your big Chupa Chup shakes the soul out of a monster’s thick skin. I live for it, I tell you.
