‘Are you fucked in the HEAD ?!’ Blue-check doc asking why people think it’s SO important to keep schools open you get A LOT more than you ask for

We can’t think of a better way for someone to tell us they don’t have children without actually telling us they don’t have children.
Who are these people?!
As usual, don’t reply to that.
Genuine q for people more concerned about school closings than covid: do you know that compulsory schooling is barely a century old in this country?
Maybe all of your grandparents had high school, but what about your great-grandparents?
Yes, education is important. But it is a pandemic!

Genuine Question for Dr. Ellie Murray: “Is she totally wrecked?”
Could someone please send this doctor all the studies that have been done on the increase in mental illness in children who are not in school? The number of suicides? It’s so damn irritating to read these kinds of tweets from people who may not have the slightest idea what they’re talking about.
And who should know better.
If you have children in school, this is even more puzzling.
My point here is not that school closings are good, or that everything is going to be okay. It is that we should not act as if no school is an unprecedented unknowable setting. It was a normal life for most of human history.

For example, schools are just schools and stuff. And your great-grandparents couldn’t go to school, so it’s no big deal.
The woman says that she went to school so much that she ended up being a doctor.
Sheesh.
The school is very important! I fully support schools and education! But the idea that schools should stay open even if we can’t do adequate pandemic mitigation because “who knows what endless damage the closures will do to children” puzzles me!

Disconcerting for her.
K.
So can you provide statistics on risk for * healthy * young people under 18? As you do so, do you estimate the effectiveness of the masks and the possible transmissions prevented? Then provide trends for childhood depression and anxiety. Also, test score trends during the pandemic. Thanks.

This is an insanely silly tweet on too many levels to fit in the space allowed.

Impressively silly, right?
Genuine question: do you prescribe psychotropic medications or do you self-medicate?

I’m lost for words

Join the club.
And women haven’t had a job until recently. GTFOH with this idiocy.

You have a lot of education. You could do better than this.

I am totally stumped here. Universal schooling, especially girls’ education, is considered one of the most defining achievements and critical transformative strategies for empowering girls and addressing poverty, child marriage, and gender-based violence.https://t.co/mMQZgsdRh0

Really disconcerting.
