America is in moral decline due to the declining integrity of the Trump-controlled Republican Party. Questions Republicans should be required to answer include; 1) Do you support the racist ideology of Trump’s policies? 2) Do you support a president’s right to incite an insurrection and then do nothing to stop it? 3) How do you feel about forgiving a president from criminals who lied to protect him? 4) Do you support the anti-masking and anti-masking mandate movements that leave children vulnerable to capture of the Delta variant and 5) How do you feel about the right of a state to reject your vote and change the results of the elections whose result is not? ‘T like.

The 2021 election results saved America, but for how long?

The Republican Party leadership has groomed its constituency to support racist policies, undemocratic rule, and cruelty over compassion. After initially declaring Trump responsible for inciting the January 6 insurrection, both Senator Mitch McConnell and Representative Kevin McCarthy began to downplay the insurrection to get back in good standing with Trump. Their turn from defending democracy to supporting the attempt to destroy it sealed their legacies as American traitors. MAGA’s policy has degraded the morals and values that have been ingrained in the identity of the United States since its inception. The Trump era has unleashed the dark side of human nature, normalized corruption, elevated greed above charity, and weakened the power of the rule of law. It has elevated psychologically and morally disturbed men like Steve Bannon, William Barr and Steven Miller to power, all pursuing white identity political agendas.

Resistance to wearing masks and anti-mask mandate positions on the part of retained voters of Trump and Republican governors such as Rick DeSantis and Greg Abbott are examples of cruel, selfish and non-Christian attitudes. The Trump administration’s acceptance of the hiring of criminals has branded the party corrupt in its quest for power over politics. The democratic norms that Senator Mitch McConnell has broken indicate the Republican Party’s rejection of the essence of our American democratic values. He breaks the rules to seize power and the results of his government tactics are as damaging to the country as Trump’s “big lie” and his repeated violations of the Constitution. McConnell’s abuse of power and malign hypocrisy is staggering in his blatant arrogance and disregard for decency and patriotism. It is a relic of the past, echoing the worst times of racism and corrupt political practices by extreme whites. It is pro-Mitch, pro-money, pro-Russia and pro-autocracy.

The denial and naivety of the MAGA electorate are staggering. The blatant hypocrisy of the party is transparent to anyone who is willing to pay attention and put aside their feelings of adoration and blind loyalty. Mitch McConnell is the architect of political hypocrisy. In 2018, he altered filing so that Neil Gorsuch was appointed to the Supreme Court, but he calls on Democrats who are in power as they consider changing filing to pass voter protection legislation. He refused to allow Merrick Garland, President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court, to be considered. He claimed that he was too close to the next presidential election, eight months away. However, with only a few weeks to go before the 2020 presidential election, he was quick to submit the nomination of Amy Coney-Barrett to the Supreme Court by Trump. He used the reconciliation process to pass conservative legislation, but refers to Democrats’ use of the same process as unfair partisanship. Hypocrisy should disqualify any elected official. It is dishonest, manipulative, and lacks the integrity necessary for the proper governance of a democracy.

The Republican Party has become the party that supported a president’s right to incite a mob to storm the Capitol in an attempt to illegally halt the certification process of the next fairly elected president of the United States. They are the party that uses conspiracy theories to win the support of its rank and file. They are the party that accepts when its members commit acts that violate their oath. They are the party that has abandoned its principles in pursuit of the kind of power that ignores the premise of the two-party democratic system. The party has been carried away by the corrupt and incompetent Donald Trump and his autocratic ideology. To get their soul back, members of the anti-Trumpism Republican Party should start a new conservative party that rejects the current corrupt and immoral practices of the degraded remnants of the Republican Party. The survival of democracy depends on it.
