Dark fantasy action platformer Blasphemous will have a final expansion in December called Wounds of Eventide, which is good news. Even better news is that a sequel is planned for 2023. There aren’t many firm details on either of the two, but you can check out the Wounds of Eventide cinematic trailer above.
The expansion and sequel were announced today during an IGN livestream. If Wounds of Eventide looks anything like the previous expansions, it will be generous: the latest free DLC, The turmoil of dawn, added completely new areas to the map, as well as a New Game + mode, new bosses, and more.
“We are very excited to finally announce that we have started a sequel to Blasphemous, the community has shown a lot of love for the first game, and we look forward to sharing more when we can.” Game Kitchen study said IGN.
Apparently the next expansion will offer the “true ending” to Blasphemous, so it’s probably a continuation of the base game, which we thought was pretty cool. “The lack of depth and variety, and some bugs in the platforms, taint an otherwise oppressive experience that would be great,” he says. our blasphemous review.
