On August 29, 2017, Ubisoft released their quirky turn-based tactical RPG crossover that saw the Raving Rabbids unexpectedly join forces with one of Nintendo’s biggest IPs. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was a wonderfully unique surprise during the Nintendo Switch launch year, scoring a very solid 85 on Metacritical and selling over 7.5 million copies as of this June. Today marks the fourth anniversary of the game, and the official Twitter account @MarioRabbids has celebrated it by posting some new illustrations. An ambitious-looking sequel titled Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, featuring a Rabbid version of Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy, was announced at this year’s E3 and will be released sometime in 2022.
