Abortion rights have ended in Texas as an unconstitutional and barbaric new law that receives the green light from Trump’s Supreme Court justices. It is ironic that an adulterous man who may have paid for abortions is the model for pro-life legislation. The evangelical religious far right has perverted the true message of their faith. They express their beliefs in a violent, hateful and rigid way. The only ways to “love your neighbor” are those that show people who have the same beliefs. It sounds anti-Jesus.

Evangelicals and other branches of extreme Christianity must remember that America is NOT a country of one race or religion. Your vehement persecution of a white power, a country controlled by Christians will be in vain. There will be threats and some victories in these fanatical attempts to end women’s reproductive rights, yet America’s diverse electorate will ultimately ensure that women, minorities, and immigrants uphold their constitutional rights.
Texas law is unconstitutional because in 1973, Roe v Wade became the law of the land, protecting the right of women to obtain an abortion. Although the Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision does not prevent Texas law from taking effect today, the court did not rule on the constitutionality of the new law. It is well known that conservative court judges are pro-life, yet they avoided ruling on the legality of the law. He explained a summary of the ruling in the New York Times;
“Abortion providers who had defied the law in an emergency request to the court had failed to present their case in the face of“ complex and novel ”procedural issues. The majority emphasized that they were not ruling on the constitutionality of Texas law and did not intend to limit “procedurally appropriate challenges” to it. ”
The media has been commenting on this story with hysteria making predictions about the end of Roe v Wade and women’s reproductive rights. What the ruling actually did was temporarily deprive Texas women of abortion rights. Abortion is now illegal in Texas after pregnancy reaches 6 weeks. There are no exceptions in the law for rape and incest. The cruelty, religious fanaticism, and misogyny inherent in the law reveal the moral depravity of Governor Gregg Abbott and the Republican state legislator of Texas.
Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s dissent strongly rebuked the ruling saying: “Faced with a request to ban a flagrantly unconstitutional law designed to prohibit women from exercising their constitutional rights and evade judicial scrutiny, most judges have chosen to bury their heads in the sand. ” Sotomayor rejected the terribly clever tactic of the Texas Republicans that allowed the conservative court to allow the law to go into effect. Justice further explained, ” that it cannot be the case that a State can evade federal judicial scrutiny by subcontracting the application of unconstitutional laws to its citizens ”.
Legal opposition to the law is inevitable as the reproductive rights of women in Texas are now being violated. The judges who voted to allow Texas women to be subjected to the cruel aspects of this law hid behind the malicious technicality that protects the state of Texas from being held accountable for violating federal law by delegating citizens to oversee the conduct of abortions. Women in Texas are now going to suffer medical, emotional and financial hardship due to this law that indulges the religious beliefs of a minority of Americans who deny science and live lives contrary to the values of their beloved Christianity.
American democracy and morality are under attack by hypocritical, misogynistic and autocratic religious and conservative power mongers. Republicans fight dirty and criminally in their quest for power, therefore Democrats must make the most of the power they barely have in our government, or democracy will disappear. Senator Joe Manchin is an obstacle to stopping the threat to democracy. He has to go!
