The Agartha expedition is Escape From Tarkov and Skyrim
A new first-person raider survival game has been announced: Expedition Agartha, a “hardcore” medieval multiplayer game that hopes to make its mark among the best survival games on PC. It’s the game’s premise that sounds particularly intriguing, as it makes Expedition Agartha look like Escape From Tarkov through Skyrim.
As revealed at PAX West 2021 (thanks TechRaptor), Expedition Agartha is the newest game from indie publisher Wandering Wizard and developer Matrioshka Games. It is described as a “medieval first-person action PvPvE” and will launch on Steam Early Access in 2022, though the game page is already on Steam if you want to check it for yourself.
In Expedition Agartha, explorers head to the mysterious island of Agartha in search of fame and glory. Players can participate in raids, explore, fight enemy players or beasts, complete missions, and then leave Agartha with their loot and life intact. The game is also described as a “full loot PvP experience” and already looks a lot like a medieval version of Escape From Tarkov, with a bit of Skyrim included.
Players can control a low-risk Freebooter, for a unique and simple experience, or the toughest Mercenary, which will be a full-fledged RPG-style character, with player-earned gear and skill progression, but can be permanently interrupted. . anytime. Beyond that, Matrioshka Games promises “visceral” first-person combat, cooperative with up to three other players, and a “competitive match-based experience.”
Expedition Agartha sounds quite promising, although it doesn’t have a more specific release date than 2022 and it only has some pretty boring screenshots, so it will probably be later in 2022 rather than earlier. It’s certainly not the only PvE survival game that evokes Skyrim soon either, as Icarus, DayZ creator Dean Hall, is due out in November.
